• To avoid signal interference turn off all cell phones, especially PDA's such as Blackberries and similar devices.
  • Wear a sturdy medium or dark colored shirt, blouse, suit, or sport coat (white, striped and flimsy shirts are not recommended).
  • Remove eye glasses to avoid glare.
  • Address the camera when responding to questions.
  • Do not rock or sway in your chair.
  • Beware of extraneous noises that may interfere such as: paper shuffling, pen clicking, finger tapping, gum chewing or sucking candy, rubbing hands or face, and rubbing clothes.
  • Do not put your hands by your face, i.e. rest your chin or cover your mouth.
  • Clear unused documents from the view of the camera.
  • Clear unused drinking glasses, mugs, or bottles from the view of the camera.
  • Clear laptop computers from the view of the camera.
  • Use a medium/dark backdrop such as blue or gray.
  • Use supplemental lighting if necessary.
  • Make sure that the camera is eye level and not pointing up or down on the witness.
  • Pause a moment after a question for any objections or instructions.
  • Confer with the videographer prior to the start of the deposition of any exhibits, charts or models that you would like to have a close-up shot of.
